Special vehicle for transporting students with mobility problems at AUEB with the support of Motodynamics Group
On Monday, June 3, the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), a pioneer in matters of social responsibility and contribution, received a new Van-type vehicle that will serve the daily needs of students who face mobility difficulties.
More specifically, after a special conversion of the van, which was kindly granted to AUEB by the Motodynamics Group, daily itineraries will be designed to serve students who face mobility difficulties, picking them up from their place of residence and transferring them to the University premises in order to attend lectures in person, like all the other fellow students.
The acceptance ceremony was honoured with the presence of the AUEB Rectorate Authorities, the management and executives of the Motodynamics Group, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and AUEB Professor, Mr. Christos Staikouras, media representatives and numerous members of the AUEB academic and student community, while the group of volunteer students lifted the hood and revealed the van.
This action, which is part of the AUEB “Identification with Society” programme, will upgrade the quality of education offered to students who need help and will provide them with equal access to studying in the context of a society of equal opportunities and possibilities. This pioneering action will start in the new academic year, i.e. in September 2024.
The Rector of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Professor Dimitris Bourantonis, commented after the acceptance ceremony: “In the context of its strategic pillar of social responsibility and contribution, the Athens University of Economics and Business supports equally all members of the academic community, but also our fellow human beings who are affected by unforeseen situations and problems. AUEB, after a kind donation, has as of today a vehicle to facilitate its students who need support. Considering the extent of our social responsibility, this action complements a series of initiatives that can only make us proud. “
The Chairman and Managing Director of the Motodynamics Group, Mr. Paris Kyriakopoulos stated: “This initiative is part of the broader framework of our actions that promote our company’s vision and purpose. Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of our strategy, in which education, road safety, the support of our fellow human beings with mobility challenges, sports and the environment are the main pillars. This donation enhances accessibility for students with mobility challenges and improves their educational experience. We thank AUEB for the excellent cooperation and we are committed to continue supporting such important actions in the future. “
