Immediate Response during the Aegean 600 International Sailing Race in adverse weather conditions
Athens, 15 July 2024 – On behalf of the MOTODYNAMICS Group, sponsor of the Foxy Lady sailing catamaran and its crew, we would like to express our gratitude to the coastguards and rescuers of Karpathos Island for their swift and effective intervention during the AEGEAN 600 International Sailing Race.
Specifically, on the evening of 8 July 2024, one of our crew members sustained an injury amid extremely adverse weather conditions in the area. Despite the severe conditions, the coast guard promptly arrived on scene in an inflatable boat and escorted the sailboat to the port of Karpathos, where a Medical Emergency Service crew was waiting to transport the injured crew member to the local hospital.
Their dedication, professionalism and ability to successfully handle such situations was key for the safety of our crew and the successful outcome of the incident.
Their response was marked by not only professionalism, but also by genuine compassion, offering vital support and reassurance to both the injured crew member and the rest of the team at an exceptionally challenging moment. The team of the Port Authority and Medical Emergency Service stand for the best of Greek Seamanship and Service to our fellow man and country.
Thank you.
