MOTODYNAMICS Group: Gold Sponsor of the 2024 Navarino Challenge for the 3rd time
Athens, 30 October 2024 – For the 3rd consecutive year, MOTODYNAMICS Group supported the leading celebration of sports tourism, Navarino Challenge, which took place on 18-20 October at Costa Navarino and the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor. At an event that brought together over 4,000 participants from 28 countries, the MOTODYNAMICS Group actively engaged with people of all ages and abilities through a diverse range of initiatives focused on Sports, Education, Road Safety, Environment and Support for fellow human beings with mobility challenges.
Having by his side the Olympic champions Pavlos Kagialis, Antigone Ntrismpiotis and Dimitris Papanikolaou, as well as the motorsport coach Thanasis Chountras, the MOTODYNAMICS Group proudly supported the Navarino Challenge as Gold Sponsor, with the active presence of its brands: SIXT, YAMAHA, and PORSCHE.
Actions for Sport
On Sunday, 20 October, Navarino Challenge participants had the opportunity to take part in the 1km race. Run For All – All Unique and Equal powered by MOTODYNAMICS Group with the dynamic participation of the DiaforoZO club from Kalamata, as well as the Olympic and Paralympic champions Antigone Drisbioti, Grigoris Polychronidis, Nasos Gavelas, the champions Giorgos Lazaridis and Georgia Kaltsis, and the founder of Humanity Greece Georgia Paraschos. As part of this action, Antigone Drisbioti joined Nasos Gavelas as his running escort, embracing a unique running experience.
The athletic activities of the event also included:
- The unique bike ride in Voidokilia powered by YAMAHA, a member of the MODYNAMICS Group, where people had the opportunity to test ride YAMAHA electric bikes
Kayaking on Sfaktiria island powered by YAMAHA, a member of the MODYNAMICS Group, which took place in the historic bay of Navarino
Actions for Education
In cooperation with the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor, MOTODYNAMICS Group conducted a series of educational activities including:
- Diversity powered by MOTODYNAMICS Group, a workshop with the former international basketball player and European champion, ambassador of the MOTODYNAMICS Group, Dimitris Papanikolaou for primary and secondary students of the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor. Dimitris Papanikolaou addressed a full house at the Pylos Indoor Stadium, speaking on issues of inclusion; immediately afterwards he talked to and inspired the event’s volunteers —students of the Athens University of Economics and Business.
- Road Safety Workshop “Drive Change Move Safe” delivered by the motorsport coach Thanasis Chountras, to students of the General Vocational High Schools of Pylos and Methoni.
- Book Donation to Tsiklitiras House. The book collection of library housed at Tsiklitiras House in Pylos was enhanced through the Library4all organisation. Participants in this initiative each brought a personal book in good condition to donate, while MOTODYNAMICS Group committed to matching these contributions by donating an equal number of new books to Library4All. The action of the Library4All Open Library took place at Tsiklitiras House, in the presence of the Mayor of Pylos-Nestor Panagiotis Karvelas, Library4all founding member and teacher, Mrs. Eleni Geroulanou and MOTODYNAMICS Group ambassador, Dimitris Papanikolaou. A total of 70 books were collected during the initiative.
Actions for the Environment
The event’s environmental actions included the Gialova beach cleanup powered by MOTODYNAMICS Cleaning Team, which was joined by Group’s athlete-ambassadors and staff, in collaboration with Moraitis Watersports and the volunteers of the Athens University of Economics and Business.
MOTODYNAMICS Group for our fellow human beings
As part of this year’s event, MOTODYNAMICS Group donated multifunctional machines and computers to the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor.
At the same time, the group lent its support to the event’s volunteers, highlighting the value of volunteering while also ensuring the safe transportation of both students of the Athens University of Economics and Business and members of the non-profit organisation Humanity Greece. The extensive team from the Athens University of Economics and Business, which has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the MOTODYNAMICS Group, was actively involved in both the Gialova beach cleanup initiative and the Navarino Challenge running events. At the same time, the dynamic team of Humanity Greece staffed the secretariat of the running events.
Honorary Accolades
On the evening of Saturday, October 19, the Navarino Challenge held its award ceremony, celebrating athletes who have distinguished themselves for their ethos, passion and contribution to sports and society. In the context of awards:
- Two years after the passing of Alexandros Nikolaidis, the two-time Olympic silver medallist in taekwondo, the organizers—together with his family—presented the 2nd “Alexandros Nikolaidis” Award, which has been established by the Greek Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Navarino Challenge. In In the presence of his wife, Dora Tsampazi, and their children, the second “Alexandros Nikolaidis” award was presented to Olympic and two-time European racewalking champion Antigone Drisbioti, who stands out for her ethos and serves as a role model for young people;
- the Olympic and two-time European champion, Dimitris Papanikolaou, received the award from the Group Corporate Communications & Sustainability Director of MOTODYNAMICS Group, Ms. Maira Passia, and the Business Development Manager of SIXT Greece, Mr. Antonios Markoutsas. Dimitris Papanikolaou captivated the audience with a heartfelt speech on the importance of inclusion and invited his daughter Aria to join him on stage;
- the bronze Olympic sailing medallist, Pavlos Kagialis, was honoured by Ms. Maira Passia, Group Corporate Communications & Sustainability Director at MOTODYNAMICS Group, in celebration of the Group’s decade-long partnership with the athlete.
Athletes and ambassadors of the event moved safely, with the renewed car fleet of SIXT, a member of the MOTODYNAMICS Group and Premium Mobility Partner of the 2024 Navarino Challenge. At Costa Navarino, participants had the opportunity to admire the new pure electric Porsche Macan recently showcased for the first time by MOTODYNAMIKI Group.
On Sunday, October 20, runners not staying at the host hotel were transported to the starting point of the race routes, thanks to the support of SIXT, a member of the MOTODYNAMICS Group.
