MOTODYNAMICS supports the great work of the "Poseidon" Kalamata Yacht Club
MOTODYNAMICS supports the Kalamata Yacht Club sailing department for people with mobility problems.
The Kalamata Yacht Club, NOK (https://nok.gr/), is one of the most historic and successful provincial clubs in Greece. It was created in 1924 and acquired its current name, “Poseidon” Kalamata Yacht Club” 28 years later. For almost a century, it has been selflessly offering the possibility of doing sports to young people of all ages, without discrimination and without any own intended considerations in the multiple sports it has to offer.
In June 2022, it accepted a proposal of the Hellenic Sailing Federation to create a sailing section for people with mobility problems, through the Blue Mediteraneo programme, and its members gained the possibility of getting therapeutic contact with the sea, as well as with the freedom and movement that the sea offers to us all. The programme is sponsored by the Italian Fondazione Terzo Pilastro internationale institution and aspires to open up new perspectives for the integration of more people with disabilities in the sport.
In June 2023, the 1st Panhellenic Interclub Yachting Championship for People with Disabilities was co-organized with the Messinia Regional Unit of the Peloponnese Region.
The championship was a huge success, it was embraced by the entire community of the sport and reminded everyone of the great importance of bone marrow donation. In particular, using the “Find your own wave – Donate life – Become a bone marrow donor” motto, NOK took the initiative to inform and register volunteer donors, proving its great social impact once again.
The vision of NOK executives and the NOK “family” was and still is to spread to the city of Kalamata and the whole world the message that “sports can unite people”, regardless of gender, nationality, age, social class and economic status and to become the means for the promotion of important social messages.
A vision that has been supported over the last decades by companies from the city of Kalamata and from all over Greece, including MOTODYNAMICS. The company has recognised the valuable work of the NOK people and provided an outboard Yamaha engine for the accompanying boat, helping to ensure that the races would be carried out as smoothly as possible.
